Joi and Jordan’s journey began in 2013, during their freshman year at Spelman and Morehouse College. Joi would often head over to Archer Hall at Morehouse to do laundry and study with her best friend — a routine that, unbeknownst to her, would lead to something extraordinary.
One day, a mutual friend from Morehouse came to hang out and brought Jordan along. Jordan walked in wearing a baseball jersey that had Joi's last name on it. Till this day, Joi still thinks that was a sign from God. That introduction sparked a connection that would change everything. Joi and Jordan quickly became close friends, sharing laughs, late-night conversations, and support through their college experience. Over time, their friendship quietly blossomed into something deeper.
After graduation, life led them down different paths. Joi moved to Washington, D.C. to attend Georgetown University for her Master’s degree, while Jordan continued his engineering studies at the University of Michigan. Despite the distance, their connection remained strong. They traveled back and forth, nurturing their bond until Jordan asked Joi to be his girlfriend — and their relationship flourished.
Following graduation, Jordan moved back home, and their love continued to grow. Then came the pandemic. While the world slowed down, their relationship found its rhythm. Spending so much time together during COVID made one thing incredibly clear: this was meant to be. A match made by God.
In 2023, Jordan asked Joi to be his wife — and she said yes.
Now, surrounded by the love of their family and friends, they’re ready to celebrate the next chapter of their beautiful story — together, forever.
Jordan is graduating from the 3-2 engineering program from Morehouse College and Michigan University. Jordan was also a part of the Robert Harris class that received a donation that cleared any outstanding tuition debts.
